Today Trustmi is introducing the AI Investigation Agent, an investigation engine for payment-centric digital forensics. It reconstructs a suspected fraud incident in minutes, not days.

Every payment attack leaves evidence. It just leaves it scattered across email, invoices, PDFs, bank documents, vendor communications, and attachments, which is exactly why investigating one has always been slow, manual work. The AI Investigation Agent does that work automatically: it collects the evidence, runs forensic analysis across every artifact, correlates the anomalies, and explains the risk, with the evidence attached, so an analyst doesn’t have to piece it together by hand.

What the AI Investigation Agent Does

When something suspicious shows up, the Agent starts working on its own. It goes and finds the related evidence, then digs into it the way a forensic expert would by hand, checking whether a document was quietly edited, whether a bank account or routing number was swapped in, and how the email thread it arrived in actually unfolded. Then it pieces those findings together into one clear picture of what happened, how serious it is, and what to do next.

Every fraud attack leaves evidence. Finding the connection is the hard part. And when the evidence isn’t enough on its own, the Agent brings in the right people to fill the gaps.

Why It’s Different

The AI Investigation Agent is the first of its kind: an AI agent built to power collaborative fraud investigations. It extends fraud investigation beyond security tools into the business systems where payment fraud actually lives, giving finance and security one shared investigation instead of two disconnected ones.

Here’s the distinction. Trustmi’s Behavioral AI platform already spots and analyzes payment fraud. The Agent is what you can actually work with. Instead of just telling teams that something looks wrong, it runs the investigation with them: it brings in the right people, chases down more evidence when someone asks, takes the next step, and gives each person the part of the picture they need. It isn’t a second brain bolted onto the platform. It’s a way to put the platform’s intelligence to work, not one more alert to read.

That’s also what separates it from the wave of “AI agents” that are really chatbots. It doesn’t wait for a prompt and summarize what you paste in; it does the investigative work itself and brings the right people into it.

How Teams Put It to Work

An investigator can ask the Agent questions, get more evidence, see recommended next steps, and produce a summary for leadership, without piecing any of it together by hand. It works inside the tools teams already use, from their security platforms to Slack, so findings show up where people are already working instead of in yet another window.

And it for finance and security A finance approver who gets a vendor bank-change request that feels off can query the Agent directly and see the findings, in plain language, with the manipulated fields shown, instead of escalating and waiting for a technical translation. That’s the shift the Agent is built around: it reduces the need for finance teams to translate business context for technical investigators, and for security teams to reconstruct payment activity without finance expertise. Both reach a shared, evidence-backed understanding faster, and can act before fraud results in financial loss.

Why It Matters

Modern payment fraud thrives in the gaps between teams. In Trustmi’s 2025 Socially Engineered Fraud & Risk Report, only 27% of organizations said fraud prevention is a shared responsibility between finance and security, and a third said misalignment between the two teams was a factor in a recent fraud incident or near miss. When an investigation is slow and splits across two teams, the money often moves before anyone finishes understanding what happened.

By reconstructing incidents in minutes and giving both teams one shared, evidence-backed view, the AI Investigation Agent shrinks the window in which a suspicious request becomes a real loss, and closes the gap attackers rely on.

“Fraud investigations should not depend on teams manually piecing together evidence across disconnected systems,” said Shai Gabay, Co-founder and CEO of Trustmi. “By reducing manual effort and accelerating the path to an evidence-backed conclusion, organizations can act faster to stop fraud before it results in financial loss.”
